Week Thirteen: April 4-8, 2016

image2OSU Dance was well represented at the Denman Undergraduate Research Forum on Wednesday, March 30: BFAs Tori Alesi, Serena Chang, Christine Ghinder, Mimi Lamantia, Dana Podell, Cailin Manning, and Asha Whitfield all presented.

OSU Dance won the top two prizes in the Arts/Architecture category. Serena Chang won 2nd place for “Our hour: cancer research through dance community,” and Mimi Lamantia won 1st place for “Argentine tango practice as a balance intervention for cancer survivors.” Congratulations to all! You can hear more about Serena’s and Mimi’s research on April 14 from 7-8pm in the Barnett.

Brazil Tour Group Talk

Join the Brazil Tour Group dancers for a discussion of their recent tour and the value of international study experiences.

DiGS Speakeasy
April 4 at 6pm; Studio 225
DiGs (Dancers in Graduate School) Speakeasy features talks from Miriam King, Mansee Singhi and Viva Valezz on topics including dance based movement intervention for people with neurogenerative disorders, an introduction to Kathak: An Indian Classical Dance, and queer belly dance and burlesque. OSU Dance presents its 2016 Spring Concert featuring work by guest artist Eddie Taketa, and the BFA completion projects of two graduating seniors, Cailin Manning and Serena Chang. The show also features work by BFAs Julia Ayau, Liliana Kane, Heidi Murr, Kylie Smith, and Anna Vomacka, and MFAs April Biggs, Nicole Garlando, Biag Gaongen, and Kim Wilczak. Friday, April 8th; 10:20-12pm (class); 12-12:45pm (brown bag lunch)
Souleymane ‘Solo’ Badolo is a Brooklyn-based choreographer and dancer born in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. He visits OSU Dance on Friday April 8th to teach masterclasses in technique and composition. Additionally he will share his creative research.
